Dear Associates and Friends:
I am pleased to inform you that LAAD remains on track to become a one-billion-dollar credit institution by 2020 by financing sustainable and environmentally responsible agribusiness projects. LAAD’s strength continues to be our human capital and our strong knowledge of agribusiness, along with our sincere dedication of doing what is right for our customers to assist them remain successful.
Since our start in 1970, we've been there through market ups and downs and have continued our work by providing reliable, consistent service, mainly in rural communities of our Latin America. We have a history of adapting to support customers overcome challenges so that future generations will have ample opportunities.
Whatever economic cycles we face, LAAD is committed to continue supporting the small and medium size grower to make their businesses successful, which means more jobs and economic growth, leading to more vibrant communities. As we continue to get closer to our 2020 milestone, we are firmly focusing on the future. This forward-looking mindset requires creativity and a willingness to change so that we can continue to fulfill our time-honored mission. It requires reinforcing our strong financial foundation, collaborating more closely with our customers, and achieving operational excellence. We are proud of our achievements and I am honored of what I learned almost twenty years ago from our Chairman, then CEO, Mr. Benjamin Fernandez: “Projects do not pay, people do”. This simple axiom was valid at that time, is still valid today and will remain valid in the future.
